Foilco are delighted to announce that they were crowned winners for The Solutions Awards – Finishing Category for 2020.
The 30×30 project was a celebration of 30 years in existence (Foilco) and with the help of long-time collaborator StudioDBD, and his little black book of incredible creative talents and a simple question – if you could give your younger self advice, what would it be?
Those lucky enough to get hold of one of our 30×30 books will be taken back by this collective of creative powerhouses that adorn the pages and the words of wisdom they’d have provided themselves many years ago. These quotes were interleaved between some beautifully bold and sometimes intricate typographic number 30’s, foiled using an array of different stamping foil shades and finishes. Dave managed to bring harmony to this encapsulation of colour.
Bringing this book to life took a team that could help us to push the boundaries of foil printing. At the time, there were not many better in the UK than James and the team at Pressision and combining (sometimes on the same page) pigment, holographic, metallic, and fluorescent foils, is no mean feat. A mix of digital and hot stamping, the 30×30 book inspired many showcasing the potential of foil used in graphic applications and projects.
